Senior night fails when the song is generic and the names are only on a piece of paper the wind takes. The families drove in for one walk. For $40, after you pay and send the intake, you get an original MP3 with the school, the mascot, and the seniors you list. The public offer is on the high school sports page. The player on this page is the Bonita proof, so you can hear a finished team chorus before you order a different one.
Names in the examples, like Jordan Hale and the North line, are composites. Use them as a form, not as a story about a real roster.
The walk is shorter than the group chat thinks
Time it next time you attend one. A senior and two parents cross the field or the court in well under two minutes, and the announcer is talking the whole way. Your song is the bed under that voice, or the chorus that plays when the line is done. It is not a film score with a scene change.
- Chorus: school, mascot, and the word seniors, so the crowd knows what night it is.
- Names in an order that matches the program. If the announcer reads 4, then 12, then 21, the song should not invent a different order.
- One true detail per name you include. Four years at left tackle. Little sibling in the stands. The position.
- A version that still works if the announcer talks over it. Short lines. Clear names.
- No plot twist. This is not the night for a surprise the senior did not approve.
If you have three seniors, you can give each a line. If you have eighteen, pick a chorus that belongs to the class and let the printed program do the bios. Say the count in the intake so we do not write a six-minute roll call.
What parents should collect before they pay
The worst senior-night songs are written from one parent's memory. Collect a card from each senior, or from the captain, before you open checkout.
- 1The list the coach will actually read, in order.
- 2How each name is pronounced, in the senior's own spelling.
- 3One detail each senior is proud of, in their words.
- 4One thing they do not want said. Ask. Do not guess.
- 5Whether the primary play is the field walk, the gym, or the banquet.
- 6School, mascot, sport, and the date.
- 7Who is allowed to approve the lyric: the seniors, not only the boosters.
Example card, labeled as an example. North High, mascot Lions. Football senior night, Friday. Four seniors in the starting walk, more on the roster graphic. Jordan Hale, number 54, four years on the line, little sister in the band. Pronounce Hale like "hail." Do not mention the knee. Priya Shah, number 2, holder and backup kicker, wants the song to say "two" not a childhood nickname. That is a useful card. A PDF of game stats is not.
Lines that belong on this night
Senior night lyrics get forwarded to grandparents. Write the sheet like it will be read at the table after the game.
A principal can read this
- Seniors, this is your night
- Lions, walk them out
- Fifty-four, Jordan Hale
- Number two, Priya Shah
Leave this out
- A joke about a senior's injury
- A college choice that is still a rumor
- A roast of the coach
- A line about who they dated
Coach jokes belong on the banquet page, and even there they should be kind. On the field, families are in the shot. Keep the lyric on years, names, the school, and the work.
When to buy
The list usually firms up the week of the event, sometimes the Monday a coach sends the program draft. That is the moment to pay and send the form, not the morning of the walk. You still want one playback before the public night, even if it is in a driveway or an empty gym. Put the walk date in the intake. We do not publish a delivery-day promise, so a same-morning order is a bad plan to announce to eighteen families.
One person pays $40. If the booster club wants to "own" it, they can repay that person. Do not wait for a meeting.
Who presses play, and what they need
The person with the microphone is busy reading names. Someone else should own the file.
- Name the file School-Senior-Night.mp3.
- Send it to the coach and to the PA student or parent, with the program order in the same text.
- Ask for a sound check the day before, or early that afternoon. Play the chorus once under a talking voice so you know the mix.
- If the school will not put parent music on the house system, play it on a sideline speaker as the line forms. Tell the coach that backup before the night.
- At the banquet, you can play more of the track because nobody is kicking off. Say which room is first.
Homecoming and senior night sometimes share a Friday. They are different jobs. Homecoming is the week and the student section. Senior night is the walk. If you need both, say which one this $40 song is for, and read the homecoming guide before you try to make one track do everything.
